Rob Holt focuses primarily on the natural
world and the spirit of place, and enjoys
pursuing the emotive qualities of color,
light, and form to be found there. For his
trips into the field, Rob uses a lightweight
tripod and Canon digital SLR cameras.
Rob's photography is represented in private
collections in the USA and Canada, and he
has exhibited in galleries, hotels, and
museums in the West and Northeast.
"Photography, the art of writing with light,
is the most powerful way to describe the
emotion of a place. I photograph on what I
am feeling when in the landscape. Color,
light, and form touch us in deep ways, and
evoke powerful personal responses in each
of us. When certain moments come to light, I try to
be present in a neutral way, in order to absorb
the feeling that I am seeing, in order to be written
upon by the landscape. It is the art of getting
out of the way, to let the experience come through
one's senses to the camera in the cleanest way
possible. When that happens, the photograph
has its own unique spirit."
